Agnotology & Social Informatics

Feb 17, 2019

In autumn of 2017 I went to the ASIS&T Social Informatics symposium to see what it was all about. A lot of great papers for the JASIS&T special issue on the Social Informatics of Knowledge were workshopped. While listening to them, it became evident to me that there is a pressing need to incorporate not just theories of the construction of knowledge, but also theory about the construction of *ignorance* (i.e., agnotology), into our social informatics & information science research.

Long story short, I have a new paper out in JASIST, ‘The Social Informatics of Ignorance.’ I would love to engage in conversation with any others in information & communication sciences who are using agnotological approaches in their work!
